Duotones and other simulations

Once an image is converted to monochromes it can subsequently be converted to a duotone in Adobe Photoshop software Despite the "duo" prefix, duotones can actually be ones twos three or four colors combined to make a tinted or colored monochrome image Rich multicolor processes can be achieved with this type of images enhancing the appearance of a simple photo.

Blue-blacks, gray-black and brown-black duotones are most popular; tri-tones and quad-tones can be used for special effects One of the most attractive is to create a simulated sepia-tone within the duotone controls by building a color set of yellows magenta and black with which the image is printed in four-color. The ability to preview the image on-screen and adjust color and tonal performance will enhance many projects.
